The war destroyed our country and our lives. It was a very, very difficult decision to put my children in a boat.
But we had to leave, to escape the bombs and to give our children a better future. Nobody wants to live in fear. No one wants to feel persecuted and struggle for a little human dignity.
We had a beautiful life in my country and in one moment everything was gone. That night that we got on the boat everything changed. I lost my husband and my younger child.
No human being should suffer like that. Now, we are trying to live with the scars and hope for a better future.
