Real Life Stories

Here you will be able to find real life stories developed by asylum seekers. This e-Library of real life stories foresees the usage of the Storytelling methodology through interactive games and writing exercises, to learn how to communicate one’s unique personal story and help affect change in the community. Asylum seekers themselves will be trained on how to use storytelling to give voice to their story and will be involved in the school piloting.

For many years I felt weak. I couldn't make my own decisions. I couldn't talk about what I was feeling. My control was in the hands of my family.

I left my country (Cameroon) without the knowledge of those closest to me: my sisters, my sick mother or my husband. The hardest part of this process was that I had to leave my children. I didn't even have a chance to say goodbye to my children. My life was in danger because of my choices, my beliefs, and my thoughts. I couldn't tell anyone that I was leaving.

Coming in new country I had to face a lot of challenges. First of all the language, I needed to find a place to live and a job to survive. With the help of locals NGO’s I am confident again to start my live but I will never forgot what I left behind.
