Real Life Stories

Here you will be able to find real life stories developed by asylum seekers. This e-Library of real life stories foresees the usage of the Storytelling methodology through interactive games and writing exercises, to learn how to communicate one’s unique personal story and help affect change in the community. Asylum seekers themselves will be trained on how to use storytelling to give voice to their story and will be involved in the school piloting.

My name is S. I was born in Iraq and I grew up there with my family.

I was a journalist and a very good one. My wife and 2 young children we were living happy and healthy. We had a nice house, money and a good social status.

My job as a journalist got in the way. Politicians and military was not happy of my articles I wrote and threaten my life but also the lives of my wife and 2 children. I needed to do something so we left.

Now, in this new country my degree is not valid. I can’t be a journalist here. I struggle to find a job to feed my family. It’s all very new for me and my family.

But we are strong. We have our health and we love each other. With the help of a few locals we are trying to build from zero our lives again.
